Notable Updates in Vietnam’s Visa Policy

On March 7, 2025, the Vietnamese Government issued Resolution No. 44/NQ-CP, granting visa exemptions to citizens of 12 countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. This policy allows a 45-day stay from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry.

This visa exemption is effective for three years (from March 15, 2025, to March 14, 2028) and will be considered for extension in accordance with Vietnamese law. Earlier, on January 15, 2025, the Government issued Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP, providing a 45-day visa exemption for citizens of three countries—Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland—as part of the 2025 Tourism Promotion Program. These measures are seen as significant steps to open Vietnam’s doors wider to international visitors, reinforcing its appeal as a friendly and welcoming destination.
