The Cat Hai – Pha Long cable car is the fastest and most convenient way to reach Cat Ba, especially for travelers looking to avoid long ferry waits. Spanning approximately 3.5 km, this cable car connects Cat Hai station (Hai Phong) to Phu Long station (Cat Ba), reducing the journey to the island to just about 10 minutes compared to waiting for traditional ferries. It also offers an exciting experience, allowing passengers to enjoy panoramic views of the emerald sea, majestic limestone mountains, and mangrove forests from above. Upon arriving at Phu Long station, travelers can continue to Cat Ba town center, about 15 km away, by shuttle bus or taxi. Another popular option is the ferry from Bến Gót (Cát Hải) to Bến Cái Viềng (Cát Bà), suitable for those traveling with personal vehicles, motorbikes, or buses, with a travel time of approximately 20-30 minutes. For those starting from Hạ Long, high-speed boats or tourist boats from Tuần Châu Port to Gia Luận Port (Cát Bà) take about 1 hour, offering the chance to explore both Hạ Long Bay and Lan Hạ Bay along the way. To avoid long waits during peak tourist seasons, visitors should arrive early or book tickets in advance to ensure a smooth journey.
